The radically transparent P2 method virtually eliminates politics.

It keeps remote employees in the loop on everything in the company–it’s their fault if you don’t know about something, because that means you haven’t read.

The P2 system encourages healthy debate (which happens often), and reinforces the idea of meritocracy. Automattic also tracks employees’ actual work (support tickets closed, code written and deleted) and puts it on a public scoreboard, so everyone knows how everyone else is doing.

This creates internal pressure to achieve results and avoid that dreaded metawork.
